Born into a family with a genuine love for all forms of motorsport Rusty was a regular attendee at the Sydney Showground Speedway before he could even walk. Those early outings left a lasting impression.
Working in the media has given him the chance to ride and drive machines that he dreamed of in those early years. These opportunities are more for story research than competition but there's been the odd win and podium finish in karts, rally sprints and khanacrosses along the way.
"To consistently ride or drive at the limit requires a level of skill I wish I had. I'm in awe of those with this special talent so I talk about them for a living instead. To occasionally be entrusted with their wheels is an honour. It gives some perspective to the enormous technical and physical challenges they face competing on the edge."
